The Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom campaign, one of the largest campaigns in Europe, involves over one thousand communities across the UK each year.
RHS Britain in Bloom focuses on: Horticultural Achievement (40%), Environmental Responsibility (30%) and Community Participation (30%). In Bovey Tracey the South West in Bloom concentrates on the following activities:
Park cleanliness and maintenance
Planting and maintaining floral features
Creating wildflower meadows
Community engagement projects
Highlighting environmental initiatives and issues (reducing the use of natural resources, balancing seasonal and permanent planting, reintroducing native plants).
The town’s Bloom leaders work closely with the Town Council, local businesses, residents, and gardening enthusiasts. Judging takes place during July.
Do you love trees? Would you like to be involved in planting some trees in Bullands Field? Friends of Mill Marsh Park and the Town Council plan to plant some young native trees in Bullands Field (the field across the river from Mill Marsh Park).
