Bovey Tracey Petanque club play on their Piste at BT AFC Ground in St Johns Lane, Bovey Tracey every Sunday afternoon from 2 pm through until 4 or 5 depending on the weather . This is a friendly afternoon where the emphasis is on social activity of fun. The club also hosts games twice a month for Bovey Tracey Activities Trust on a Thursday.
The concept:
The sport is played with metal balls and a jack and can be played by teams of three players (triples), two players (doubles) or a straight head-to-head between two single players.
The object of each end is to get more of your boules closer to the jack than your opponent (each one that is closer scores one point) and the team/player to reach the score being played for first wins the game. The game is suitable for any one from about 8 years of age onwards.
Some of the members also play in a more serious but still very friendly competition in the League games. The club is open to any one who would like to try their hand at this very easy game played in a friendly competitive manner
Anyone interested in trying the sport is welcome to come along on a Sunday afternoon and try it out, no equipment is required. Please contact the treasurer Mike Watson on 01626 832888 or email mgtwatson@aol.com for further details.
